Here is what's going on at Bethlehem Lutheran
35th Annual Hog Roast at Zion Lutheran Church, 5534 E 600th Ave, Altamont, Sunday, March 18, 4:30PM. Menu: BBQ Pork, baked beans, baked potato, chips, applesauce, desserts & pies. Cost is free-will donation with proceeds 1/2 to Lutheran Care Center and 1/2 to 125th Anniversary Fund for Zion. Bulk BBQ Pork will be available for sale.
A benefit for Pam (Berg) Kepley will be held on Sunday, April 8, at the Carriage House Event Center. A meal will be served from 11 am –
1 pm. Meal tickets should be purchased in advance from Janice Heiden or Peoples Bank. A bake sale and raffle will be held throughout the benefit. Donations of baked goods are requested and may be dropped
off the morning of the event. Pam was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor in August 2017. Money raised during the benefit will help with Pam’s medical expenses. Those wishing to help at the benefit, donate raffle
items, or purchase tickets may contact Janice at 618-483-6082.
Zion’s 125th Anniversary celebration on Sun. April 15 starts with a special service at 2:00PM with guest speaker, Rev. Gaylord Spilker, son of Zion Congregation and liturgist Rev. Marcus Manley, Zion’s pastor. The theme is “Christ is Our Cornerstone.” The service will be followed with a cake and punch reception. Zion is located at 5534 E 600th Ave, Altamont. A second anniversary celebration will be held on July 8.
The Lutheran Witness renewal fee for the new subscription year is $15.96 and is due by May 1, 2018. If you would like to renew or start a new subscription please place your envelope (provided in your offering envelope box) with the subscription fee in the offering plate prior to May 1. Thank you.
ALIS will continue to collect plastic bags. During the summer you may drop them off at the school Monday through Thursday or at one of the four churches. After 3 years and 2 months, ALIS
has earned $2,520. Thank you to everyone for bringing bags. Also, a special “thank you” to the people who take the bags to Wal-Mart.
Plastic Bag Change: Walmart can only send plastic shopping bags to their recycler. They will not take our bags if they include plastic wrappers of any kind of shrink wrap. So please only
send in plastic
shopping bags (any color is fine, except black.)
S & W supermarket HY-Top (store brand) will give our school $50.00 for every 1,000 UPC labels turned in. Save the UPC bar code from all HY-Top products and put them in the
container outside the school office. Along with the Boxtop and Campbell labels. Thank you for your help.
Reservations to schedule use of the Parish Hall needs to be made by calling the church office, to check the dates of reunions, weddings, wedding anniversaries, confirmations, etc.
